Why wasn't Just Dance 2020 released for Wii U?

Main Post:

Not only did Just Dance lack a port for Wii U but a PS3 and Xbox 360 port as well, since these 3 game consoles have their active online (their respective stores and online game services) and could be used to download songs and DLCs as on the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch's ports, also these 3 today are cheap. Not like the Wii version that is the worst of all.

Tell me: Why wasn't Just Dance 2020 released for Wii U?

Top Comment:

Because the wii version is playable on the Wii u and it actually sells quite a lot of copies.

First Dance- Massive height difference between us, and I don't know how to pull it off

Main Post:

I'm getting married in June to the most wonderful man I have ever known, and am just finishing up some final details. I just realized (I know, my mind has been everywhere else) that my fiancee and I will have a bit of a problem with the first dance. I'm pretty petite- barely 5'1. He's 6'10, and a huge guy. We're used to the jabs about our huge height difference, and have found ways to make it work with other things in the past, but I don't quite know how to pull off the first dance. Heels won't make much of a difference, because it's nearly 2ft of a height difference, and he's a bit clumsy so I worry that he'll knock me off of the anyways. Anyone have any ideas/advice/etc?

Why has the US always had a stigma against dance music?

Main Post:

So, I want to make the case that the US has stigmatized the genre forever, even though many of the great subgenres began here. I'll explain why I believe the social/political climates of this country cause this stigmatization, but first some background.

We cannot go through the history of dance and EDM without examining the disco movement. The disco era was pivotal, it was inescapable. It was the first time that music designed for the dancefloor was flooding the charts. At the apex of the movement, the disco sucks backlash began, and rock fans revolted against the genre. Some blame the decadence of the disco era for its decline, others blame the misogyny and homophobia of rock fans for the decline. I believe it was a combination of both, but it was mostly the latter. This sent dance music underground once again, birthing house music of Chicago, Detroit, then New York and the world. Dance music never reached the heights of the disco era again, all though there was a golden age of dance/electronica in the 90s, it was more influential in the UK than the US. Its notable that in the 90s, Chicago issued "anti-rave" ordinances which fined DJs, promoters and property owners for hosting illicit dance parties. In NYC, Rudy Guiliani enforced old "cabaret" laws, which changed the texture of NYC nightlife forever. The big clubs NY was known for rapidly started shutting down. Meanwhile in the UK, the rave scenes were flourishing and in Germany, the techno scene was taking root. In the 2010's the EDM festivals brought life back into dance music in the US but by that point the most popular genre in the US was rap and hip-hop. Pop stars would include dance and disco elements into their music, but the chart domination of the disco era was never fully recreated.

Ok so, what is it about America that makes it so hard for dance music? Firstly, dance music is a genre that has proved very successful for black female singers (Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Whitney, Cece Peniston, Crystal Waters, Robin S, think the era of "Dance Diva Thunderpuss Remixes of the 90s"). It is also a genre that has been loved by the LGBT community since its inception. HIV/AIDS and the war on drugs made dance clubs less viable in this country.

On a deeper level though, I think the culture of the US is one of deep shame. As much as we say we're "home of the free" I think we're deeply ashamed of our bodies, our sexualities, and the power of community that dance music requires. (I'm gonna get a bit woo woo for a second) There is a deep spiritual power in getting together with a group of people and dancing until you're dripping sweat. Its telling that during the COVID pandemic, we've heard people say that they can't wait to dance in the club again. I think we all intrinsically recognize the freedom, connection, and love that is felt in a dance club, that is felt through dance music, but the puritanical roots of this country have always stifled this energy from thriving.

What do yall think?

This has to be hands down my favorite quote about dance:

"I can not adequately describe the way dance makes me feel. It is as though I had somehow found a way to sever the chords holding me to this earth, and for a moment, if only for a fraction of a second, I can fly."

I don’t dance. Unless VERY drunk, and then I don’t remember.

I swing my arms when I dance. Makes the dance floor very dangerous.
